SQUAMISH GENERAL HOSPITAL – EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT

Medical care is available at SGH Emergency Department 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you have been sexually assaulted, you may choose a forensic exam to gather evidence that may be used in court regardless of whether you report the assault to the police at this time. A Sexual Assault Nurse Examine (SANE) is available on-call Monday-Friday, 8:30-4:30 to administer the exam (more commonly known as a “rape kit”). The exam can be performed up to seven days after the assault. It is recommended to call ahead to the ER (604-892-6054).
Services are free and confidential. No Carecard (MSP) is needed.

Female on-call doctors and nurses are available at VGH 24/7 to provide confidential and sensitive care for youth (13 and older) and adults who have been sexually assaulted within seven days of presenting to hospital.

Hospital Accompaniment for medical attention from the Sexual Assault Service Centre at Vancouver General Hospital is available 24 hours a day by calling WAVAW’s Crisis Line and asking for Hospital Accompaniment Staff.
